I just finished adding 22 new sources to my lists of armorials, bringing the total up to 654. The full list is at the end of the post, but here are some highlights:
- Visitation of the City and Suburbs of London, 1568, English
- I heard last summer that there were plans to digitize this, so I’ve been eagerly waiting. It was well worth the wait.
- Funeral Entries Vol 2, Irish 1597-1603
- Mostly unpainted, but there are a few painted full funereal achievements throughout, with banners and tabards
- Les Nobles demoiseaus bourgeois de Vallenchenes, after 1550 French
- A fairly short volume, but it has some very nice artwork, and some arms and charges I haven’t seen before.
- Armorial, 16th C German
- This armorial, or collection of armorials, turned up in the Vatican collection last year, and is a treasure trove of interesting armory.
- Armorial dit de Gorrevod, 15th C Dutch
I’m trying to make this site self-sustaining. If you’ve found it useful at all, and have a little bit to spare, there’s a donate button to the right.
