2nd April Armorials Update

I’m going to try to do these more frequently so they don’t become daunting, and so I can give a bit of info about the items I’m adding. With that in mind, I’ve found 7 new sources over the last couple days.

German

• Geschlechtsregister der fränkischen Familie von Russaw, 1491-16th C German (Stuttgart, Württembergische Landesbibliothek, cod. hist. qt. 420)
  • A short genealogy – has less than 20 items, but some nice artwork.

• Stuttgarter Harnischmusterbuch, 1548-1563 German (Stuttgart, Württembergische Landesbibliothek,Cod.milit.fol.24)
  • Effectively master armorer Jörg Sorg the Younger’s portfolio, for showing his past designs to new customers. Most pages include the arms of the person the armor was made for.

• Atlas des Herzogtums Württemberg, 1575 German (Stuttgart, Württembergische Landesbibliothek,Cod.hist.qt.102)
  • An atlas of the Duchy of Württemberg which includes the arms of the cities.

• Nachbildungen alter Grabsteine des Württembergischen Fürstenhauses, 1583 German (Stuttgart, Württembergische Landesbibliothek, Cod.hist.fol.130)
  • Drawings of Württemberg gravestones, most of which include arms.

Low Countries

• Armorial, 16th C Dutch (Brussels, Koninklijke Bibliotheek van België ms. G 675)
  • A collection of a few armorials.

• Receuil d’armoiries coloriées, 16th C Dutch (Brussels, Koninklijke Bibliotheek van België ms. G 564)
  • An armorial with arms from across Europe.

• Armorial de l’Ordre de la Toison d’or, c. 1559 Dutch (Brussels, Koninklijke Bibliotheek van België ms. 9080)
  • Arms of the members of the Order of the Golden Fleece.
